Updated: Dec 9

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Take advantage of five before five: your youth before your old age, your health before your illness, your riches before your poverty, your free time before your work, and your life before your death.

There is so much to gain from this one Hadeeth however we will extract just one benefit this time In shaa Allaah. Lets take health. And how taking advantage of our health is crucial and connected to worship itself.

Look at the practices of Islaam and how the preservation of good health is embedded into the everyday habits. For example the wudhoo before each prayer making sure we are clean, the dental health we practice by way of using the miswak, the salaah and the very movements being physical and spiritual exercise for the entire body, fasting the month of Ramadhaan and how it resets the entire digestive system, hijaama (cupping) and how this clean the blood from toxins. SubHaanAllaah the list could go on and on about how Allaah has made preservation of health a major part of the practices in Islaam. AlHamdulillaah.

That being said, how serious do WE take our health outside of what has been legislated for us to do Islaamically? This is a question to reflect upon. And is our health being taken care of as worship because in reality our health IS worship.

Take many acts of worship in Islaam and upon observing you will see that in order to fulfill it thoroughly it’ll take some form of health. For example, Hajj and Umrah take physical health to walk for miles and perform the rituals under the blaring heat, fasting takes good health or else a person cannot fast, salaah takes physical health to perform the positions or else you’ll have to sit down to pray and these are just to name a few.

This is no shame to Muslims who had illness that they have no control over. In the sight of Allaah they qualify for Jannah due to the difficulties on a daily basis SubHaanAllaah. And even in these illnesses whatever a person can do to their best ability you find that many will strive harder to worship even in a state of sickness may Allah accept and grant them Jannah Aameen.

But what about Muslims who are negligent with their health? Who do not watch the eating habits, they don’t exercise, they don’t try to do better? Understand that our bodies are a trust from Allaah to all of us and we will have to answer for what we did with them.

The quality of our worship relies upon our health and how well we take care of it. And this is a constant determination until we die. To take care of our health as best we can in order to perform as many more good deeds and worship as possible.

Even a rich person cannot enjoy their wealth if they are sick! Take a look at some wealthy people who due to illness would trade all of the money they own just to be in good health. We take good health for granted or neglect it and this is sinful. Young or old we all have the responsibility of taking care of our health.

Looking into the Sunnah and eating, drinking, and applying the habits that our prophet ﷺ had is a great starting point. For example he didn’t eat meat very often, he didn’t eat big portions, he wasn’t greedy, he ate healthy snacks like dates and cucumbers, he did Hijaamah, he fasted, he was active and not lazy.

Thereafter a person can look into being active within the limits of how their lifestyle is. Exercise, stay fully hydrated (being dehydrated causes many health issues) refrain from being excessive with sugar, take blackseed, supplements and herbs just to name a few.

Speaking of supplements and herbs. Why should we? Look at our foods. We can see that our daily intake of food does not have the necessary vitamins and minerals that food once had. So it tastes good but is void of nutritional value. And food without the nutritional value needed is just giving unhealthy fats, sugars, and empty calories.

Taking supplements and herbs fill in the gaps that our bodies need to function properly. Without these necessary components, our bodies begin to feel brittle, weak, fatigue, sluggish, depressed, etc. Nowadays the market is flooded with so many beneficial products it can be tough to decide what to purchase because we definitely do not want to waste time and money.

For this I can recommend an herbal blend that is amazing for digestive health, losing stomach fat, boosted metabolism, better energy, better sleep, less stress and much more. It s a superfoods herb to help with overall body strength and health In shaa Allaah.

It tastes amazing because when mixed with the all natural ingredients and water, there is a natural sweetener to make it a juice that you drink daily. Check it out below on my website and please be sure to take care of your health the best you can with the above tips given and more.

May Allaah ash-Shaafee heal the sick Muslims, may He keep us in good Emaan and health Aameen. Baarak Allaahu Feekum بارك الله فيكم
