Top ten tips on how to organize your time.

As salaamu Alaykum,

I would like to pass on 10 easy tips on how to organize our time better.

I hope this will help us all in getting more of a stress free tranquil lifestyle In shaa Allaah.

Here they are:

1) Morning & Evening Athkaar

One may ask “what does the morning and evening athkaar have to do with time management?” Well it does! Actually its the most important part! In order to get our day going in a productive / tranquil way , what better way than to (after salaah) ask from Allah , clear our mind and reflect on his blessings and mercy. Starting and ending our day with these athkaar can give us just what we need spiritually, emotionally, and mentally to get us going! After all, they are our “Emaan Vitamins.” Click here to read Emaan Vitamins

2) Daily Regimen Book or App

This is a book or an app that you log your most repetitive regimens in. What this does is allows you to know what to look forward to and be diligent upon everyday in order to reach certain goals you have. For instance this book would look something like this:

What this means is that each week on certain days you’re fulfilling certain regimens for yourself or others toward working on an ending goal.

So maybe every week on Tuesdays @9Am you workout. Maybe on Monday mornings you take your vitamin D supplements. Every Saturday could reading circles with the family…. you get my drift. However these regimen books are different from a “to do” list! Lets see how below. 3) Daily “to do” List the night Before

Ok so the next best thing a person can do is know what tasks and responsibilities have to be done for the following day.

This “to do” list is different from the above weekly regimens list. The reason why is because to do lists are a list of tasks to get done that are NOT your norm. For instance you may have a doctor appointment @3pm the next day. This isn’t your everyday task. So it would go on a to do list.

I suggest that the night before , (before going to bed) you just jot down those tasks that aren’t necessarily apart of your regular regimes but nonetheless they need to be fulfilled. If you’re not into the pen and paper thing, then easily download a free notes app or to do list app on any of the devices you may have. This makes for a more organized approach for the next day.

4) Yearly Goals List

Many times throughout the year we think of goals we would’ve to fulfill that we feel is impossible to fulfill. When really everything we want to fulfill is easily accessible if we rely upon Allaah and go for it with a game plan!

The way this yearly goals list works is that every year you should have a list of goals you want to fulfill either for yourself or family or both. But it shouldn’t just be a list of goals it should be written down THE STEPS to take to get those goals accomplished.

Then in turn those steps should go in line with you weekly regimens list that i listed above. (see how everything works hand in hand) Doing this will help you know what your daily regimens should be.

5) Study Schedule

I know everyone is not a student of knowledge. Nor is this every Muslims path to Jannah. As a matter of fact everyone takes different paths to paradise that is most easy for them to be diligent upon every day.

However one cannot take steps towards betterment of any kind without knowledge. We wouldn’t know how to pray, fast, or even read had we not ever learned to do so! Everything links back to knowledge. Whether religious or secular we must learn!

With that being said EVERY woman should have her a study schedule breakdown. What this would entail is a daily listing of what you’re currently reading , what you’re memorizing, assignments that need to be fulfilled if you are in school or courses etc.

This helps to ensure that everyday you gave your all to one particular study without the stress of cramming and not digesting everything properly. It also helps to ensure that everyday you are learning.

“Knowledge preceeds words and deeds.”

After all, when we KNOW better … we DO better!

6) Tweak your regimens/ schedules if needed

If what you wrote down for yourself  isn’t working for you then try try again! Rewrite it and try out new routines until you find what works for you and your family.

7) Don’t give up!

Sometimes like mentioned above your routines may not work… at first! But that doesn’t mean that these things don’t work it just means that you have to find your niche and try until it DOES work.

So at the first sign of things not going to well, don’t worry… you’ll get it In shaa Allaah…. Keep trying!

8) Stick to what you’ve assigned yourself!!!

How many times have women done the above steps only to find they didn’t fulfill any of the things they wrote for themselves!

The main thing is to actually apply what you wrote down! Hang them up if you need to as they should be visible to you everyday.. maybe on your bedroom wall or other than that.. somewhere you can look at them when you need to. Maybe on your iPad or mobile device… wherever your eyes look the most during the days post them there!

Don’t go outside of what you’ve prescribed for yourself… you must take your own medicine!

9) Be realistic when setting goals, tasks and regimens

Ok so we all want to shoot for the stars and be optimistic. This is how we are SUPPOSED to be!

However, being realistic with yourself is really important.. If you know your not a big reader but you write into your studies log that you should read 10 pages of something per day, this isn’t a realistic goal for you to set on a daily.

Be honest with yourself , what you write for yourself isn’t for anyone else to know anyway. It’s for you to become more organized and take advantage of your time better… not to make you feel worse that you didn’t get to accomplish what you wrote down!

So if you listed only one regimen per day or three it doesn’t matter. It’s not about being busy, it’s about being happily productive daily and stress free while fulfilling daily routines that make you a better you!

10) Pencil yourself in….

As women from different walks of life no matter what type of lifestyle you live, women are usually inclined to do for others before we do for ourselves.

Now this may seem like a noble thing but here’s the catch, if we don’t take care of ourselves we won’t be any good to anyone else!

Pencil yourself in DAILY. Everyday you should have a time that’s JUST for you . That may be a time for you to do your hair, do some henna, do some extra hygienic things to help better your internal like oil pulling or exercise.

I mean the list is endless. And I don’t mean time aside for you to waste. I mean excellent quality time for you to get yourself together .

This makes for a more calmer, better YOU.
