As salaamu ‘alaykum السلام عليكم ,
Most cars need fuel (gas) in order to drive. Not just any fuel, it must be fuel that matches the type of vehicle you have. If you were to pump the wrong type of gas into that vehicle, it’s going to malfunction.
Changing gears, if we were to take a look at the human body and it’s need for the proper “fuel”, this would point us in the direction of water. Our body is made up of an estimated 65-75% of water. That’s more than half our body in water. Not to mention in Islaam water is very important so much so it’s included in our acts of worship on a daily. In the Qur’aan it states: ”We made from water every living thing”(Qur’an 21:30).
Furthermore when we really take a look at just how much of this percentage we actually fill our bodies with in water, it usually doesn’t reach the mark. Not to mention (going back to the example of the car) the “type” of liquid we fill our bodies with. Sodas, coffee, tea, juice, milk etc. Not saying that ALL of these are harmful to drink however , how much of these are we drinking daily? And how much water is included in between these drinks if any?
It may not seem like a big deal but what we fill-up with can make or break our performance in daily productivity. Depending on the drinks of choice , we can feel the “crash” effect at the end of the day, fatigued, dry mouthed, hyper, jittery and so much more. On the flip side water won’t have negative side effects unless you’re a drinking toxic kind. Which brings me to my next point.
Is there a “toxic” or “bad” type of water? Well yes… Just like cars need the type of fuel to match the brand vehicle it is, likewise humans need water that will benefit the human body. For instance, our water should be filtered to remove the heavy metals, chemicals, and various toxins. Water should also be alkalined which prevents us from drinking water that is overly acidic and provides us with natural energy. It’s way to much to get into now (or else we will veer off topic) but having a proper PH level of water is crucial to our health.
Another point when speaking on the topic of water is dehydration. How many of us have had to go to the hospital and the only treatment administered was IV? Well reason being is that MANY common illnesses are either caused/triggered by dehydration or not remedied with proper hydration making the illness even worse. On this side of the planet we are literally floating in clean water all around us yet we refuse to drink it! With so many tasty drinks around us, we don’t even realize that we are filling our bodies with the wrong fuel therefore damaging how our bodies perform.
At times we feel ill and may not even know why. The remedy could be something as simple as drinking a glass of fresh alkaline water. Disease cannot live in an alkaline environment In shaa Allaah ان شاء الله . Our bodies become so acidic, it feeds the bacterias/viruses inside the body helping them to grow. Some symptoms of dehydration are listed below and they may surprise you:
• Thirst • Dry or sticky mouth • Not peeing very much • Dark yellow pee • Dry, cool skin • Headache • Muscle cramps • Not peeing or having very dark yellow pee • Very dry skin • Feeling dizzy • Rapid heartbeat • Rapid breathing • Sunken eyes • Sleepiness, lack of energy, confusion or irritability • Fainting • Excessive Vomiting
Keep in mind that thirst can be the final stage that shows us we are dehydrated. Other times our bodies may speak first and we don’t make the connection of dehydration to those symptoms as this is one of the most overlooked causes of illness (dehydration).
I hope this helps us be more mindful and hey, the next time you’re not feeling too well pick up a glass of cleaned alkaline water it may just work In shaa Allaah ان شاء الله.
